Translational Lung Research Center (TLRC)
Translational Lung Research Center Heidelberg (TLRC-H)
The TLRC-H is made up of five site partners:
- Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg
- University Hospital Heidelberg
- Thoraxklinik at Heidelberg University Hospital
- German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ)
- European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg
The main research focus of the TLRC lies in working to better understand the origination mechanisms of the three frequently occurring chronic lung diseases – cystic fibrosis, COPD and lung cancer. It is the aim of the scientists to find new therapeutic points of application, to improve diagnostics and to develop further causal therapy options. Another research field of the TLRC-H uses systems biology to better understand the molecular causes of lung cancer.
The Director of the TLRC-H group is Prof. Dr. Hans-Ulrich Kauczor (Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology), and the scientific and administrative site coordination is the responsibility of Dr. Birgit Teucher.
