This year, the focus was on the various treatment options available for pulmonary fibrosis. First, Prof. Dr. Antje Prasse, head of the pulmonary fibrosis outpatient clinic at the MHH’s Pulmonary Clinic and researcher at BREATH, presented the various subtypes of pulmonary fibrosis. She then informed the participants about the two drugs approved for so-called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Their application for other forms of pulmonary fibrosis is the focus of current clinical studies.

In addition to medical care, the support of self-help associations is an important factor for patients in accepting their own illness. A patient with pulmonary scleroderma reported on her personal experience and how she copes with her condition.

Currently the LungenfibrO2e e.V. is looking for a patient representative for the regional group Hannover. Interested parties can either contact the BREATH team or contact the LungenfibrO2e e.V. directly.
