April 17, 2026: DZG Regional Day Lower Saxony

Date: April 17, 2026

Location: Hannover (tba)

Target group: Representatives of the DZGs as well as policymakers

The five German Centers for Health Research (DZG) represented in Lower Saxony plan to jointly organize a DZG Regional Day for the first time in 2026.

The DZGs were established 15 years ago by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with the goal of developing new therapies for major widespread diseases through a translational approach. Thanks to its strong biomedical research landscape, Lower Saxony is represented in five of the eight DZGs, which focus on infection research (DZIF), neurodegenerative diseases (DZNE), cardiovascular research (DZHK), lung research (DZL), and child and adolescent health (DZKJ).

The event will focus on strengthening scientific collaboration. We aim to showcase the local research priorities of the DZGs as well as the specific framework conditions and support opportunities. In addition, the program will serve to promote networking and strategic exchange, and to explore possibilities for jointly using technologies and service infrastructures more effectively. Another key objective is to further enhance cross-DZG support for early-career researchers.
