May 6, 2026: Infectious Diseases Working Group
Dear colleagues,
We cordially invite you to our next Infectious Diseases Working Group meeting on May 6, 2026, which will focus on the complex topic of sepsis—from acute care and new therapeutic concepts to often underestimated long-term consequences.
Sepsis remains one of the greatest challenges in modern medicine. Despite improved diagnostics and treatment, it continues to be associated with high mortality and significant long-term effects. With the updated 2025 S3 guideline “Sepsis – Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatment and Aftercare” and the quality assurance procedure “Diagnosis and Treatment of Sepsis,” in force since January 1, 2026, evidence-based standards and binding quality requirements are coming even more into focus.
In our event, we will highlight current developments along the continuum of care: PD Dr. Carolin Fleischmann-Struzek will present the long-term consequences of sepsis and approaches to their detection and management. Dr. Susanne Simon will provide an update on the new sepsis guideline and the requirements of the QS sepsis procedure. PD Dr. Benjamin Seeliger will demonstrate how sepsis phenotyping and modern extracorporeal therapeutic strategies can contribute to increasingly individualized treatment.
We invite you to discuss these topics together, exchange experiences, and gain new insights for your daily practice.
We look forward to an inspiring evening with you!
Yours sincerely,
Susanne Simon & Hortense Slevogt
