Each year, the researchers from the five German Center for Lung Research (DZL) sites and their associated partners meet to exchange their findings on new results, methods and possible cooperations. This year, the Annual Conference was held in Hanover and attracted well over 500 participants with a full program.
The exchange of findings is not only of great importance for our long-standing DZL members. Particularly our young researchers profit from discussions with each other and with experienced colleagues. That is why members of the DZL Academy, the young researcher network of the DZL, met together already on the evening before the conference. „Sometimes it helps to know that you are not alone with a problem. Communication within the DZL Academy motivates me to stay on the ball“, says Svenja Gaedcke, who is now in the final stages of her doctoral thesis in bioinformatics at the BREATH site and is actively involved in the DZL Academy.
The DZL members demonstrated their scientific knowledge both in presentations and a poster session which, with 330 contributions, was the largest since the start of the Annual Conference. The quality of the posters was assessed by an independent jury and poster prizes awarded. Three of the coveted ten poster prizes remained at the host site BREATH. In Hanover, Dr. Agilo Kern, Bin Liu and Marisa Mälzer were delighted to receive the prize money of 500 Euros each. The contributions of our three winners will be presented separately in the next few weeks in the BREATH News.
We are delighted that we were able to host such a successful event and look forward to 2023, when we will all meet again in Munich.
