Comprehensive Pneumology Center (CPC)
The CPC Munich brings together four institutions of experimental and clinical lung research in Munich:
- Helmholtz Zentrum München (German Research Center for Environmental Health)
- Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich
- University Hospital Munich
- Asklepios Specialist Hospital Munich-Gauting (Center for Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery)
The close cooperation between these partners allows the complete medical translation chain to be followed from basic research to the initiation of clinical studies.
The main focus points of the disease-related research are interstitial lung diseases (e.g. pulmonary fibrosis), COPD, childhood asthma, lung transplantation, and aspects of stem cell research.
The Director of the CPC is Prof. Dr. Erika von Mutius (Chairman, Experimental Pneumology Comprehensive Pneumology Center; Director, Institute of Lung Biology and Disease (iLBD), Helmholtz Zentrum München), and the scientific and administrative site coordination is the responsibility of Franziska Hauptkorn.
