BREATH is a lung research network that brings together experts from medicine, science, technology development, and research infrastructure. They work closely together with a shared goal: to translate new scientific findings into better ways to diagnose and treat lung diseases as quickly as possible.

At BREATH, we study a broad spectrum of lung diseases—from obstructive and acute conditions to processes of lung injury and regeneration. Through close, interdisciplinary collaboration, we bridge basic and clinical research across institutional boundaries. This approach generates new insights that we translate into innovative strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and therapy.

The DZL
The German Center for Lung Research was established to improve understanding of the causes of lung diseases and to open up new avenues for prevention, diagnosis, and therapy. Within a nationwide network of leading university and non-university institutions, the DZL pools scientific expertise with the aim of translating research findings into medical practice more rapidly.
